1927 Original Photo DOC JAMIESON New York Giants Historic AFRICAN AMERICAN trainer

A Vintage 1927 Original Photograph issued by International Newsreel depicts longtime McGraw favorite, trainer Doc Jamison, in the New York Giants locker room. Here he is holding one of those early U/V lamps for Freddie Fitzsimmons as the light was reportedly used to take the soreness out of the shoulder's ligaments.

HERE’S WHERE IT GETS INTERESTING – 20 years before Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier in baseball, there was African American trainer (Doc Jamieson) employed by a Major League baseball team. Many players didn’t want to play with other black players, yet they were allowed in the clubhouse and they were allowed to work on them to make the players game ready. Talk about hypocrisy.

This original International Newsreel photo (6.5 x 8.5 inches) is in excellent condition with just some slight wrinkling around the edges. It offers superb clarity. The reverse has an International Newsreel stamp, a date stamp from Mar 1, 1927, and the original paper caption dated 2/25/27. Original press stamp and caption with MAR 1 1927 stamp date are on the verso. Great Pic!
