1940 National League Baseball Rules Book Presented by Ford Frick to Ernest Quigley

Ernest Quigley was one of baseball's most respected umpires during his career as an arbiter. Quigley worked from 1913 to 1937 and was a part of six World Series crews - most notably the 1919 Fall Classic which turned baseball upside down. This baseball rule book (5x7") with "Compliments of Ford C. Frick 1940" engraved on the cover.

The flyleaf has been removed from the front of the book (see scan where there is paper loss)

These books were generally only given to Major League umpires.  They rarely surface on the collecting market. Quigley jotted notes throughout the 112 page book in pencil.
