1946 Oshkosh All Stars vs Cleveland Allmen Transfers Scorecard Program – Bob Carpenter Sets Single Game Scoring Record

The Oshkosh All-Stars were a professional basketball team based in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. From 1937 to 1949 they played in the National Basketball League, a forerunner to the NBA. The team appeared in the NBL finals five consecutive years (1938-1942), winning twice. The All-Stars also won the 1942 World Professional Basketball Tournament over the Detroit Eagles in Chicago

The Cleveland Allmen Transfers were a professional basketball team in Cleveland, Ohio. It played in the National Basketball League, which formed in 1937. In 1949, this league joined with the Basketball Association of America to form the National Basketball Association.

The Cleveland Allmen Transfers played for two seasons (1944-1946). During the team’s first season, the squad finished second in the the National Basketball League’s Eastern Division. The team won thirteen and lost seventeen games. The team still made the playoffs, but the Transfers lost in the first round. During the 1945-1946 season, the Cleveland Allmen Transfers finished last in the Eastern Division, amassing four wins and twenty-nine losses. Due to the team’s dismal performance, the Cleveland Allmen Transfers disbanded at the end of the season.

We offer a scorecard that measures 8.25” x 11” from February 9, 1946.  The All Stars beat the Cleveland Allmen Transfers 77-45 at the South Park Junior High Gym in Wisconsin

Bob Carpenter scored 40 pints to set an NBL record of most points scored in a game, breaking Stan Patrick’s record of 38 pints of Chicago the previous season (high scoring games were a rarity in the early days of basketball).

Oshkosh featured players such as Fred Rehm, Bob Feerick, Gene Englund, Bob Carpenter, Erv Prasse (a teammate of Nile Kinnick’s at Iowa), Eddie Riska, and Lefty Edwards.  

Cleveland featured Mel Riebe, Howie McCarthy, Paul McCall, Marshall Brown, and many other early pro pioneers.

The scorecard features early pro star, Erv Prasse at the top.  This has been folded, but in great shape! Super RARE!!!!
