And Leroy Toots Ferrell, who made his professional debut at the age of 17 with the Newark Giants and then was traded to Baltimore in 1948 and racked up a record of 9-2 and then 10-2 the following year before being inducted into the Army and serving in the Korean War.  He injured his shoulder while playing in an Army League football game, thus; ending his baseball career.

This original TYPE 1 photo measures 4” x 8” in size and shows these two promising pitchers posing in front of the Arrow Beer Billboard Sign at Bugle Field; the home field wooden stadium for the Baltimore Elite Giants.
