1954 Brooklyn Dodgers vs Mil Braves 8/1 – Home Runs Eddie Mathews #100 Jackie Robinson Snider Hodges Ticket Stub PSA

On August 1, 1954 the visiting Milwaukee Braves would crush the Brooklyn Dodgers by a score of 14-6 at Ebbets Field in a day game in front of 14,268 fans.  A rookie Hank Aaron wold go 0 for 5, but this action packed game had a total of 29 hits and lots of fights.

The Braves Eddie Mathews hit his 100th career Home Run, and teammates Bill Bruton and Del Crandall also contributed with Homers.

For Brooklyn, Jackie Robinson hit career Home Run #115, Duke Snider #177, and Gil Hodges #199.

Joe Adcock who had tied a Major League record in the previous game the day before with four Home Runs was seemingly punished by the Dodgers by getting beaned by Clem Labine and had to be carried off the field.

Then Jackie Robinson got into it with Eddie Mathews after tensions between the two of them had been building all season; most likely due to some comments that Jackie made about Eddie that made it into print.  Jackie and Duke Snider were both hit by pitches in this game.

A crazy day ensued and this $3 ticket was definitely worth the price of admission.
