Bill Yancey Negro League Legend & Basketball HOF signed 1961 Naismith FDC

Bill Yancey (D. 1971) was an American baseball shortstop in the Negro leagues. He played from 1927 to 1936. He also played for the New York Renaissance, an all-black professional basketball team.[1] Yancey also served as a Major League scout for the New York Yankees and Philadelphia Phillies.  Some of the Negro League teams he played for include: Hilldale, New York Black Yankees, Brooklyn Eagles, New York Cubans, and Philadelphia Stars.

In 1932 he became a guard with The Renaissance Five basketball team, which was inducted as a unit into the National Basketball Hall of Fame in 1963

Offered is a a signed Basketball FDC envelope from 1961 that we believe was signed by Yancey during a visit to the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.  HOF’ers were asked to sign these FDC’s to be sold in the gift shop at the museum.   His autograph is super tough to find!
