Jesse Owens Olympic Gold Medalist Legend Typed RARE Typed Letter Signed w/ Content

Jesse Owens (D 1980) was an American track and field athlete. He participated in the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin, Germany, where he achieved international fame by winning four gold medals: one each in the 100 meters, the 200 meters, the long jump, and as part of the 4x100 meter relay team.

Offered is a Typed Letter Signed from 1975 on his personal letterhead.  He writes to a young athlete, giving him encouragement with “the help of God.”

Owens writes that, “I am quite sure that you will become a great track and field person.  With what you are doing now, in the year 1980 I want to find your name on the list of persons that are going to represent America at the Olympic games.”

The letter exhibits light age toning, some soiling, and some very minor paper loss in a few areas.  The letter had been mounted onto a sturdier piece of paper where the letter had been displayed in a frame for many years.  Nevertheless, this is the first Jesse Owens we’ve ever seen offered for sale.  Extremely rare in this format!!!!
