Beautiful 1928 photograph (measuring 6.5” 8.5” by Underwood and Underwood showing Lem Jew, a "Full Blooded Chinese" who was the newest recruit on the George Washington University Football Team! Original stampings and caption on the back of the photo showing Lem with his coach R.A. Newby.
One of the first Chinese born football (American College Football) stars. Rare early piece of Chinese Sports history and condition is wonderful.
NOTE – 3rd and 4th images are clippings from newspapers (digital clippings) from 1928 – one of which describes his skillset to a T and the other showing this photo used in print. These are not included with the photo.
