Tony Lema PGA Championship 1963 original Photo

Tony Lema was an American professional golfer who rose to fame in the beginning of golf's modern era, but had his young life and career cut short in an aircraft accident. In 1963, Lema finished second by one stroke to Jack Nicklaus at the Masters Tournament and missed the playoff for the U.S. Open by two shots, bogeying the last two holes believing he needed birdies.

We offer an original UPI wire photo (9 x 7 inches) from 7/20/1963 (handwritten description on back) of Lema hitting out of a sand trap in the 3rd round of a PGA Championship in Dallas. Original UPI stamp on the back along with the Sport Stamp.
