Connie Wisniewski, nicknamed “The Polish Rifle,” was one of the AAGPBL’s greatest two-way stars and holds the league record for best career winning percentage (.690). Debuting with the Milwaukee Chicks in 1944, she led them to the championship with a 23-10 record and a remarkable 0.40 ERA in the postseason. In 1945, she went 32-11 with a record 0.81 ERA, earning the league’s first Player of the Year award. Wisniewski won 33 games in 1946 and later became a top hitter, leading the league in home runs and earning three All-Star selections as an outfielder. She retired in 1952 as an AAGPBL legend.
