Alphonse Tuffy Leemans signed AUTO GPC postmarked 1936 Pre-Rookie Pro Football HOF NY Giants PSA/DNA

Tuffy Leemans (D. 1979) was the 1936 College All-Star game MVP. He was an aggressive, dedicated do-everything team leader. He was player-coach in his final 1943 season. He led NFL rushers as rookie in 1936, was All-NFL in 1936 and 1939, second-team All-NFL five times. His career totals are: 3,132 yards rushing, 2,318 yards passing, 422 yards receiving, 25 TD passes, and a 13.8-yard punt return average. He was elected to the Pro FB HOF in 1978.

Offered is a GPC (government postcard) postmarked February 12, 1936 from Washington, D.C. (Leemans lived in D.C. as he was at George Washington University at this time).  Signed in black steel tipped pen.  THIS IS A PRE-ROOKIE signature.  He was drafted in the 1936 NFL draft by the N.Y. Giants.

Leemans’ is one of the scarcer Pro Football Hall of Fame autographs due to his induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame one year before his passing.  Very rare in this format as most of his autographs are found on either 1977 Touchdown football cards or 3x5 index cards obtained through the mail in the 1970s.  Also making this extra rare is that he signed this with his full name (he’s usually found with his nickname only)
