Hoot Evers & Bill Lajoie Signed AUTO 1988 Detroit Tigers Scout Baseball Contract

Walter “Hoot” Evers (D.1991) played in the Major Leagues from 1941-56 (missing 3 seasons to serve in World War II) for the Detroit Tigers, Boston Red Sox, New York Giants, Baltimore Orioles, and Cleveland Indians.  He was selected to the All-Star team, twice (1948 & 1950). After his playing days ended, he remained in baseball by working in the Cleveland Indians organization (including a coaching stint).  In 1971, he joined the Detroit Tigers and worked with the team for several years in player development and scouting.

Bill Lajoie (D. 2010) was a professional baseball player, manager, scout, and front office executive.  He was the GM of the World Championship 1984 Tigers.  Because he is best known in the Baseball world as a “front office” guy; he was rarely asked for his autograph.  Lajoie is exceptionally tough in the collecting world (as far as signatures).

Offered is Hoot Evers 1988 Detroit Tigers American League Contract to Scout for the team – signed by Hoot, GM – Bill Lajoie, and Bobby Brown (signed for him by Bob Fishel).  Comes with an additional transmittal letter on Tigers Letterhead signed Bill (although we believe that his secretary signed the letter for Lajoie)
