Jacob Ruppert Signed New York Yankees Player Transfer Contract from 1917 JSA LOA

Jacob Ruppert (D. 1939) Starting out in the family brewing business, Ruppert entered the United States National Guard in 1886 at the age of 19, eventually reaching the rank of colonel. While he was the owner of the Yankees, he purchased the contract of Babe Ruth and built Yankee Stadium, reversing the franchise's fortunes and establishing it as the premier club in the major leagues. Ruppert was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in July 2013

The document, a "Uniform Agreement For Transfer of a Player to or by a Major League Club," has the Yankees  trading the rights to Alex Ferguson who was a pitcher in the big leagues from 1918 – 29 for the Yankees, Red Sox, Senators, Phillies, and Brooklyn Robins.  The contract has been signed in black steel tipped pen by owner Jacob Ruppert and the president of the Utica Baseball Club. Measures 8.5 x 14" unfolded.
