John McGraw (1873-1934) was one of baseball's greatest managers and a fiery third baseman. As a player with the Baltimore Orioles in the 1890s, he hit .334 lifetime and pioneered aggressive "inside baseball" tactics. He managed the New York Giants for 30 years (1902-1932), winning 10 National League pennants and three World Series championships (1905, 1921, 1922). His 2,763 career managerial wins ranked second all-time for decades. Known for his combative style, strategic innovation, and keen eye for talent, McGraw shaped modern baseball and mentored future Hall of Famers. Inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1937.
George "Highpockets" Kelly (1895-1984) was a 6'4" first baseman who starred for the New York Giants from 1915-1926. He earned his nickname from his height and habit of keeping his glove tucked high in his waistband. Kelly was a key contributor to the Giants' four consecutive pennants (1921-1924) and World Series championships in 1921 and 1922. He led the National League in home runs in 1921 (23) and RBIs in 1920 (94) and 1924 (136), hitting over .300 six times. A solid defender, he finished with a .297 career batting average. Inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1973.
Offered is an original 8.5” x 11” letter on New York Ball Club (NY Giants) letterhead dated, December 18, 1916 that reads:

My dear Kelly:
I cannot tell you what pleasure I have enjoyed in reading the beautiful set of Shakespeare's Writings which was presented to me by the members of the Giants. The beauty of this wonderful Series not alone appeals to me but has been admired by every person who has seen it. To look at the autographs of the boys brings back to mind one of the greatest years in the history of base ball.
I want to tell you how much I thank you and how greatly I know I appreciate it. A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and many more.
