According to his pitcher, HOFer – Lefty Grove, Cochrane is considered the best catcher of all-time. He was nicknamed Black Mike and played on 3 World Championship teams, and was awarded two MVP awards. He would pass away in 1962.

Letter on two sheets sent to his wife & dated December “March 16, 1945”. Nice war-date letter sent home while serving as a LT Commander in the US Navy. Cochrane has signed, “All My Love, Mike”, adding “G.S. Cochrane” below. Two more signatures are found on the return envelope—one within the mailing address (To “Mrs. Gordon Cochrane….”) and again, “G.S. Cochrane LT Cmdr” in the return address. Three pieces altogether and three signatures!
