Tony La Russa Signed Oakland A’s Athletics Payroll Check from 1969 Baseball HOF

La Russa is the former manager of the St. Louis Cardinals, Oakland Athletics and Chicago White Sox and a former American professional baseball player in Major League Baseball (MLB). In November 2019, he joined the Los Angeles Angels as a senior advisor of baseball operations. His MLB career has spanned from 1963 to the present, in several roles. In 33 years as a manager, La Russa guided his teams to three World Series titles, six league championships and twelve division titles. His 2,728 wins is third most for a major league manager, trailing only the totals of Connie Mack and John McGraw.

Offered is a payroll check from September 25, 1969 made out to La Russa for $198.45.  La Russa endorsed the back of the check.  This has to be one of the rarest Baseball HOF player payroll checks (as La Russa  played in only 8 games that season and had a total of 132 games a player.  He made his name as a coach and manager; earning his way into Cooperstown.  Signed on the front by Tom Corwin (A’s traveling secretary).    A's payroll checks are seldom seen (we lucked out and were able to purchase 6 from a long- time collection; this being one of them).
