1927 Walter Johnson with HOFers – Stan Coveleski & Bucky Harris Original TYPE I photo – The Injury that Ended His Career

Walter Johnson, the legendary pitcher for the Washington Senators, suffered an injury during spring training in 1927. He hurt his leg while running the bases, which led to him being on crutches for a period. This injury marked the twilight of his illustrious career, as he retired later that year after 21 seasons in Major League Baseball. Johnson's legacy as one of the greatest pitchers in history remains untarnished despite this setback.

Offered is an original TYPE I photo that measures 8” x  6” in size of Walter sitting on the bench in street clothes while nursing his broken leg.  To the left of him are fellow Senators and future Baseball Hall of Famers Stan Coveleski and Bucky Harris.  Stamped on back with period International Newsreel markings and hologram from the 1996 Baseball Magazine Archives Auction.
