1959 Wilt Chamberlain 2nd Career NBA Game Home Debut vs. HOFer NBA Pioneer Earl Lloyd Pistons Original TYPE III Photo PSA/DNA
Offered is an original TYPE III photo that measures 7” x 9” in size with the United Press International original stamp on the back and N.E.A Reference stamp dated November 8, 1959. Caption on the front is dated 10/31/1959 which was Wilt Chamberlain’s second career NBA game. The photo depicts future Naismith HOFer, Earl Lloyd, who was the first African American to play in an NBA game attempting to block Wilt’s basket. You can see future HOFer, Guy Rodgers’ head poking out from the bottom of the photo (lower left).
Historical photo, as we’ve never seen a period photo from Wilt’s debut. Great clarity on this wire. Wilt’s first game (debut) was on the road vs the Knicks. This was his home opener Debut. Wilt would put up 36 points in this game.
Authenticated and Encapsulated by PSA/DNA as a TYPE III Photo
PSA defines a TYPE III photo as –
