Jack Ramsay (D. 2014) Starting on the high school level, he moved on to coaching St. Joe’s to 10 post season NCAA appearances. The NBA took notice and he moved on to the NBA.
He led the Portland Trail Blazers to their first NBA championship in 1977. Ramsay's coaching career spanned over three decades, including stints with the Philadelphia 76ers, Buffalo Braves, and Indiana Pacers. He was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and received the Chuck Daly Lifetime Achievement Award. Ramsay was celebrated for his strategic brilliance and contributions to the sport, leaving a lasting legacy in basketball history. In addition to coaching, he was the GM of the 1967 Philadelphia 76ers (the architect of the team).
Offered is an incredible 8.5” x 11” document filled out entirely in Ramsay’s hand and signed by him in blue ballpoint when he was the head coach for the Buffalo Braves in January 1975. This document was the ratings for every NBA coach. Detailed notes and number system.
He rated Mendy Rudolph as “The best we have”
Earl Strom – not in good shape – does good job.
Len Wirtz (who was an NBA referee from 1970-75) There should not be a place from him in the NBA. Makes incredibly bad calls (we presume that other coaches rated him in a similar manner which probably ended his NBA career after the 1974-75 NBA season.
Incredible piece of history!!!
