Tim Timothy J. Mara Signed AUTO letter New York Giants Football HOF PSA/DNA

Timothy James Mara (July 29, 1887 – February 16, 1959) was the founding owner of the New York Giants of the National Football League (NFL). The Giants, under Mara, won NFL championships in 1927, 1934, 1938, and 1956 and divisional titles in 1933, 1935, 1939, 1941, 1944, 1946, and 1958.

Mara died in 1959 at the age of 71. His vast contributions to the NFL were recognized with his 1963 election to the charter class of 17 members in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Offered is an extremely rare Typed letter signed on New York Football Giants letterhead dated October 9, 1947 and written to George Preston Marshall’s wife (the owner of the Washington Redskins).  Letter measures 8.5” x 11” and comes with the original mailing envelope.  Letter is signed in steel tipped pen.

By the 1940’s, Tim’s sons, Wellington (who is also in the Pro Football HOF) and Jack Mara (who should be in the Hall of Fame) had taken over the day to day operations of the team.  Therefore, most of the team correspondence was signed by either Well or Jack.

Tim Mara autographs (not to be confused with Mara’s grandson – by the same name who died in 1995) are extremely rare.  In fact, we’d rate him as the third hardest Pro Football Hall of Fame autograph to obtain after Hugh Shorty Ray and Charles Bidwill.
