Albersheim's 2015 June Auction
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/7/2015
As the story goes, Shoeless Joe Jackson was illiterate and that he couldn’t even sign his name. In fact, Jackson could sign, but was very reluctant to do so. He only signed when absolutely necessary which was usually on legal documents. This did not stop autograph seekers from requesting Jackson's signature by mail, and when these occasional requests came in they were honored by Mrs. Jackson, who would sign Joe's name for him.
Offered is a government postcard that has been postmarked from Greenville, South Carolina in 1948 where Mrs. Joe wrote, “Friend Jim, Lots of luck to you your feeling much better. Thanks. Yours very truly, Joe Jackson.”
Letter of Authenticity from Richard Albersheim.
