1938 College All-Stars vs Washington Redskins football program Whizzer White Sammy Baugh

This was the 5th matchup of the College All-Star series vs the NFL champions (the first game played in 1934).  The All-Stars would beat the NFL Champions’ Washington Redskins.

For the first time in the series, offensive power ruled under the lights of Soldier Field as Cecil Isbell of Purdue led the All-Stars to a 28-16 victory over the Skins.  The Redskins were handicapped by an ankle injury to QB, Sammy Baugh, but it’s doubtful that Baugh could have saved the day as the Collegian’s Defense just destroyed the Washington offense.

The All-Stars featured stars such as Cecil Isbell, Perry Schwartz, Corby Davis, Andy Farkas, Alexander Kevorkian (no relation to Jack), Milt Popovich, Gus Zarnas, and Heisman winner – Byron Whizzer White (future Supreme Court Justice).

The College All-Stars were coached by Bo McMillin, Ducky Pond, Harry Kipke, Elmer Layden, and A.J. Robertson.

The Skins were coached by future Hall of Famer – Ray Flaherty.

Program has all pages intact, tight with some foxing spine, some small tears on the back cover and crease on upper right cover (see scan), a bonus laminated page included with articles about the game. Loaded with photos of all the players from both teams!  Also bios on the college players.  Great piece of history from a program that rarely comes up for sale.
