1947-1966 Exhibits Larry Doby Signed AUTO PSA/DNA

Larry Doby (D. 2003) was the second black player to play in the modern major leagues and the first to do so in the American League. A center fielder, Doby appeared in seven All-Star games and finished second in the 1954 American League MVP voting. Appointed manager of the Chicago White Sox in 1978, Doby was the second African-American to lead a Major League club. He was selected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1998 by the Hall's Veterans Committee. We offer an original AP wire photo that measures 8 x 11.5 in size. This is from Dobys debut on July 5, 1947 when he became the first black player to play in the American League (Jackie Robinson had broken the color barrier in the Major Leagues in the NL for the Dodgers 11 weeks before).

Offered is a 1947-66 Exhibits Card signed by Larry Doby during his playing days.
