1950-51 SHEBOYGAN REDSKINS NPBL BASKETBALL TEAM SIGNED AUTO MEDIA GUIDE

The Sheboygan Red Skins (or Redskins) were a professional basketball team based in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, which was an original National Basketball Association franchise during the 1949–50 season.   They were kicked out of the NBA for the 1950-51 season, so they joined the National Professional Basketball League for the season, before finally folding due to the league’s insolvency.

Offered is a 1950-51 Sheboygan Red Skins' media guide for the National Professional Basketball League (NPBL). This original yearbook is printed on glossy paper with photos and text in blue.  Program is in nice shape, but some of the pages are loose and could be reattached.

The guide has been signed in Red by 11 members of the team (the entire team)

Includes:

Ken Suesens – D. 2002  Head coach who played for the Red Skins from 1938-49 as a player and as the head coach from 1948-51

Wally Osterkorn (D. 2012) played for Sheboygan in 1951 and the Syracuse Nationals 1951-55

Clarence Brannum (D. 2000) played college basketball at Kansas State, brother of team star – Bob Brannum.  He played pro ball from the 1950-51 Sheboygan team. Super rare autograph.

Bob Brannum (D. 2005) the twin brother of Clarence, attended the University of Kentucky and Michigan State University before playing professional basketball. (the NPBL's No. 1 scorer by average, 19.0 ppg, who went on to play four seasons with the Boston Celtics)

Jack Burmaster (D. 2005) part of the U of Illinois Whiz Kids. He played for the Oshkosh All-Stars and the Sheboygan Redskins

George Bush (D. 1990) younger brother of early professional basketball star, Jerry Bush.  He played college ball at Toledo and played his rookie year with the Red Skins.

Bobby Cook (d. 2004) (who had held the NBA single-game scoring record of 44 points in 1949-50) He played for Sheboygan from 1948-52 out of the U of Wisconsin

Nate DeLong (D. 2010) he was selected in the 1950 NBA draft by the Tri-Cities Blackhawks, but chose to play for Sheboygan during the 1950-51 season, and then played for the Milwaukee Hawks (after they moved) in 1952

Johnny Givens (D. 2009) played at Western Kentucky and then one year of pro ball with the 1950-51 Sheboygan team.  He then went into coaching high school and college before becoming the first coach in Kentucky Colonels ABA history during the 1967-68 season.

John Pilch (d. 1991) came out Wyoming and then played his rookie year for Sheboygan before joining  the Minneapolis Lakers' 1951-52 NBA title team

Max Morris (D. 1998) played college ball at Northwestern before joining George Mikans with the 1946-47 Chicago American Gears.  The following season he was on the IR before joining the Sheboygan Redskins later that season and finished up with them in 1950-51.

 

Possibly one of a kind (to find completely signed).   Super rare nonetheless!
