A Vintage 1952 Wire Photo issued by the Associated Press depicting a young Mickey Mantle and his twin brothers, Ray Mantle and Roy Mantle. In any other family, Ray and Roy would have been considered successful athletes, both stars in high school football and even getting a look by the Yankees in the minor leagues. But comparing them to Mickey was just unfair. Their older brother was an immortal, molded from material made from the heavens and given god-like talents that made him an idol of millions.
The photograph has editorial masking as it was prepared and used in newsprint publication at the time. The inks are water soluble so they could technically be removed. Scarce 7” x 10” period Mantle image from early in his career with a NOV 17 1952 date stamp on the reverse.
