Vintage 1968-69 Metropolitan Sports Center Ticket Envelope. Manufactured by the Mackay Envelope Company. Envelope features logos of the now defunct NHL Minnesota North Stars and ABA Minnesota Pipers, as well as the long-gone Met Center. Reverse of envelope features schedules for both teams from the 1968-69 season. CONNIE HAWKINS was the drawing card for the Pipers in what was otherwise a dismal 36-42 season.
It’s quite notable that the Pipers were a single year franchise in Minnesota. They were formerly known as the Pittsburgh Pipers and won the first ABA title in 1967-68. After their single season in Minnesota, they returned to Pittsburgh in 1969-70, changed their name to the Pittsburgh Condors for the 1970-72 seasons before finally folding.
