Albersheim's 2015 November Auction
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/14/2015
The 1969-70 season was the 2nd season for the Hawks in Atlanta after their move from St. Louis. The team finished with a 48-34 record that put them in first place in the Western Division. They would lose in the Western Division Finals to the Lakers who would end up playing in the NBA Championship game.
Offered is a fully inflated Wilson Official NBA J. Walter Kennedy leather basketball. This is the exact model used in NBA games. Signed by 10 members of the team in black marker.
Signatures include: Jim Davis, Bill Bridges, Lou Hudson, Dave Newmark (whose only season with the Hawks was 1969-70), Head Coach Richie Guerin (HOF), Walt Hazzard, Gary Gregor (whose only season with the Hawks was 1969-70), Joe Caldwell, Don Ohl, Butch Beard.
Needless to say, early team signed NBA balls are extremely rare. The fact that these balls cost around $40-50 back in the early ‘70s may have had something to do with it.
Letter of Authenticity from Richard Albersheim.
