Andre Ware won the award that year as a Quarterback out of Houston. He was the first African-American Quarterback to win the Heisman Trophy. He was the #7 overall pick in the first round by the Detroit Lions in the 1990 NFL draft. He would play professionally until 1999 with the Lions, Vikings, Jaguars, and Raiders.
