Albersheim's 2015 June Auction
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/7/2015
George Foreman will be forever linked with Joe Frazier and Muhammad Ali. He fought in perhaps one of the most famous boxing matches in Pugilistic history: “The Rumble in the Jungle,” which was in 1974 against the great Muhammad Ali.
In 1977 he retired after a brutal loss to boxing contender Jimmy Young. In 1987, after a 10 year layoff, he made a successful comeback which would last another 10 years before finally hanging it up in 1997. In 1994, he regained his Heavyweight Title, 20 years after losing his belt to Ali.
Offered is his official Boxing Contract with the Nevada Athletic Commission which encompasses two separate documents that measure 8.5” x 14” for the April 11, 1992 George Foreman vs. Alex Stewart fight in Las Vegas, Nevada. Foreman would win by Majority Decision in 10 rounds.
The first contract is signed by George Foreman and Bruce Trampler of Top Rank. Trampler was inducted in the Boxing Hall of Fame in 2010 as a boxing matchmaker. Foreman was paid $5 Million for the fight. The second contract is signed by Bruce Trampler and James R. Fennell, on behalf of Alex Stewart, who would be paid $250,000 for the fight. Jim Fennell was Stewart’s manager.
Stewart was 43-10 lifetime. He had 24 consecutive wins all by KO prior to his first loss at the hands of Evander Holyfield. He’s probably best known for being knocked out by Mike Tyson in the first round of a 1990 fight.
Foreman fight contracts are almost unheard of!
