The Allentown Jets were a minor league basketball team 1958-1981. They won eight championships and 12 division titles.
Among the Jets' top players were center Roman "Big Daddy" Turmon, Ray Scott NBA player and coach, scorer-rebounder Harthorne Wingo and 3-point specialist Brendan McCann. The Jets had a working agreement with the New York Knicks, who sent several players to Allentown for playing time. Scott was the fourth player picked in the US in the 1961 NBA draft by the Detroit Pistons, the Jets PR maestro, Johnny Kimock navigated this successful transition making the Jets one of the elite EBL teams. Other notable players included: Sonny Hill, Art Spoelstra, Larry Hennessy, Ray Felix, Hubie Brown, Lenny Rosenbluth, Sid Cohen, Walt Simon, Alex “Boo” Ellis, Andy Johnson, York Larese, Tom Stith, Jim McCoy, Warren Davis, Carl Green, Frank Card, Hubie White, Joe Hammond (of NYC playground fame – he was drafted by the Lakers, but he didn’t sign with the team, stating that he was making more money selling drugs for which he ended up sentenced to 11 years in prison in 1990), Jim Bad News Barnes, and many others.

Offered is a well-used lighter was produced by Spikes Trophies of Philadelphia, was a promotional item for the Jets sometime between 1960 and 1970's. The lighter measures 2.25 inches high x 1.5 inches wide, show signs of use and is not currently in working order.
