Burleigh Grimes (D. 1985) was the last pitcher officially allowed to throw the spitball. Grimes won 270 games and pitched in 4 World Series in his 19 year career which included stops with the Pittsburgh Pirates, Brooklyn Robins & Dodgers, NY Giants, Boston Braves, St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Cubs, and New York Yankees. He was inducted into the Baseball HOF in 1964.
Offered is a personal check signed and written completely in Grimes’ hand that was made out to himself for $75 from 1934 (his last Major League season). Signed twice! Gorgeous vintage autographs of this historically underrated pitcher!
