Chris Schenkel (1923-2005) was an iconic American sportscaster known for his smooth delivery. His five-decade career covered NFL, The Masters, Major League Baseball, NBA, Olympics, and professional bowling. He started at CBS and joined ABC in 1965. Schenkel's most memorable moments include calling the 1958 NFL Championship Game along with Chuck Thompson, 1962 NFL Championship game (Packers vs Giants), Triple Crown horse racing, The Masters, and Nadia Comaneci's perfect 10 at the 1976 Olympics. He was the first voiceover talent for NFL Films (1962 NFL championship game) His versatility and storytelling made him a beloved figure in sports broadcasting, earning him a spot in the Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame in 2014. He was also the broadcaster for the 1969 Texas vs Arkansas Game of the Century. Schenkel’s legacy endures as one of the most likable and professional sportscasters in history.
