Cliff Battles (D. 1981) was a triple-threat grid star at West Virginia Wesleyan. His accomplishments include being the NFL rushing champ in 1932 and 1937, All-NFL choice in 1932, 1933, 1934, 1936, and 1937, a six-year career rushing total of 3,511 yards, the first to gain over 200 yards in one game (1933) and he scored three spectacular TDs in a division-clinching win over Giants in 1937. He was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1968.
