Donovan McNabb, born on November 25, 1976, in Chicago, Illinois, is a former NFL quarterback best known for his dynamic leadership of the Philadelphia Eagles. A dual-sport athlete at Syracuse University, McNabb excelled in football and basketball before being selected as the second overall pick in the 1999 NFL Draft. Known for his strong arm, mobility, and poise, McNabb quickly became the cornerstone of the Eagles' offense, guiding them to sustained success.
During his 11 seasons with the Eagles, McNabb led the team to five NFC Championship Games and a Super Bowl appearance in the 2004 season. Though the Eagles fell to the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XXXIX, McNabb delivered a standout performance, throwing for 357 yards and three touchdowns. He was a six-time Pro Bowl selection and remains the Eagles' all-time leader in passing yards, completions, and touchdown passes, embodying consistency and excellence at the quarterback position.
McNabb also played for the Washington Redskins and Minnesota Vikings before retiring in 2011. Over his 13-season career, he threw for over 37,000 yards and 234 touchdowns, with an additional 3,459 rushing yards. Off the field, McNabb has remained active in media and philanthropy, solidifying his legacy as one of the most impactful quarterbacks of his era and a trailblazer for African American players at the position.
