Super Bowl XXVIII was the 2nd of 3 Super Bowls that the Dallas Cowboys played in the 1990s and the 2nd of back to back Championships. Again, the Cowboys beat up on the Buffalo Bills by a score of 30-13 in Atlanta, Georgia. This helmet was worn throughout the season before it was retired after the Super Bowl.

To demonstrate how nasty and intense Erik Williams was during his HOF caliber NFL career as an Offensive Tackle, one only needs to look inside the helmet to see that the padding has been knocked every which way. We can only imagine how many opposing defensive players still have nightmares thinking about facing an opponent who showed such dominance. The warning sticker is still partially intact inside the shell of the helmet.

The back of the shell features the NFL sticker, “E. Williams” Dymotape on the rear, with the warning label peeled off (this matches other Cowboys helmets from that season which had warning labels peeled off) and a beat up All American L label. Right and left side of the helmet feature the Dallas Cowboys stars logos. The Ridell “Air” logo covered up by tape above the facemask (made by Schutt) which is severely battle tested and has the dents to prove it. This may be one of the most abused still intact specimens we’ve ever encountered.

If this helmet could talk, we suspect we’d hear a bunch of grunting and groaning from the ghosts of grown men past from the violent blows they took on the gridiron from this Hall of Fame caliber lineman!

Signed by Williams in black sharpie pen, “Worn in the Super Bowl! Erik Williams #79.”
