Pollard and Bobby Marshall were the first two African-American players in the NFL in 1920. Football pioneer Walter Camp called Pollard "one of the greatest runners these eyes have ever seen."

He was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, posthumously in 2005 and his election into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, 19 years after his death; many autograph collectors did not have him on their “autograph radars.”

This Touchdown Club football has been signed by 15 people.  The ball has been marked 8/18/66 Shea Stadium, but based on the names on the football we believe this was actually signed at the end of the month about an hour and a half away as the Fairfield County Chapter of the National Football Foundation and Hall of Fame sponsored an outing at Eichner’s grove in Trumball, CT. It’s possible that the men who were in attendance for this meeting gathered a week and a half prior at Shea Stadium. (see article attached)

This is the only football that we’ve ever seen signed by Pollard.
