Greasy Neale (D. 1973) has an extensive college coaching career that preceded his entry into NFL in 1941. He quickly built the second-division Eagles into a contender and produced three straight Eastern Division crowns and NFL championships in 1948 and 1949. Both NFL titles came by shutout scores. Using an assumed name, he played with the pre-NFL Canton Bulldogs. He also played major league baseball, including as a member of the 1919 World Series winning Reds baseball team.
Offered is a gorgeous government postcard that has been postmarked November 16, 1949 (their World Championship season). This was just three days after their 44-21 win over the Washington Redskins and four days before their blowout of the New York Bulldogs (42-0)
Signed in Eagles Green steel tipped pen and also wrote, “Coach Phila Eagles”
