John Quincy Adams (July 11, 1767 – February 23, 1848) was the sixth president of the United States, serving from 1825 to 1829. He was the son of John Adams, the second president, and Abigail Adams. Before his presidency, he was a prominent diplomat, serving as the U.S. minister to several countries and playing a key role in negotiating the Treaty of Ghent, which ended the War of 1812. As president, he advocated for modernizing the economy and infrastructure but faced strong opposition. After his presidency, he served in the House of Representatives until his death, becoming a vocal opponent of slavery
