President John F. Kennedy Meets the 1963 World Champion Boston Celtics Team Signed AUTO Photo PSA/DNA

On January 31, 1963 before a scheduled game at the University of Maryland’s Cole Field House to play the Cincinnati Royals that night, the Celtics took a scheduled tour of the White House before the game.  When President Kennedy heard that his home town team was visiting his home, he invited them in to the oval office for an impromptu meet and greet.  According to his teammates, Bill Russell overslept and never made it to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue that day, so when the Official White House Photographer pulled out his camera, Bill was not a part of the festivities.

He is joined by World Champions Red Auerbach, Buddy LeRoux, Frank Ramsey, Tom Sanders, Tom Heinsohn, Bob Cousy, Sam Jones, John Havlicek, and K.C. Jones. Bill Russell was late and missed the photo op.  (In his defense, Russell didn’t know that the President would be greeting them. The Celtics big man did show up for the game that night, scoring 18 points and grabbing 22 rebounds in a 128-125 win over the Cincinnati Royals.)

Offered is this super rare 8x10 photo from this event and signed by everyone in the photo with the exception of J.F.K. and trainer Buddy LeRoux.

These 10 black ink Autographs include: Red Auerbach, Frank Ramsey, Tom Sanders, Tom Heinsohn, Bob Cousy, Sam Jones, John Havlicek, Clyde Lovelette, and K.C. Jones.

Incredible historic piece.  We’ve only seen 2 other signed examples in our 40 plus years in the hobby.
