River Phoenix 1989 Original TYPE I photo – Stand By Me Tragic Actor

River Phoenix was a talented and influential actor and musician whose life, though tragically short, left a lasting impact on the entertainment industry and his fans.  His breakout role came in the film "Stand by Me" (1986), where he played the sensitive and troubled Chris Chambers. The film was a critical and commercial success, establishing River as a promising young actor. River Phoenix died of a drug overdose on October 31, 1993, at the age of 23 outside The Viper Room, a nightclub in West Hollywood. His death shocked fans and the entertainment industry.
