Pride and humanitarianism won Clemente universal admiration. Despite an unorthodox batting style, the Pirates great won four batting crowns and amassed 3,000 hits. He was equally brilliant in right field, where he displayed a precise and powerful arm. Clemente earned National League MVP honors in 1966, but achieved his greatest fame in the 1971 World Series, in which he batted .414. Tragically, Clemente's life ended at age 38 in a plane crash while flying relief supplies to Nicaraguan earthquake victims.
Offered is a fantastic autographed 8” x 10” B&W team-issue photo signed to journeyman pitcher George Culver: “To George Culver/Best Wishes & Luck….” Writing rates a “6” on a scale of “1-10.” A portion of his last name contrasts poorly against his dark undergarment and one corner is creased. Overall this will make a fine display item for the budget-minded collector looking for a displayable 8x10 of this Pirate legend!
