Sid Hartman (D. 2020) As a 27-year-old in 1947, Hartman became the acting general manager of the Minneapolis Lakers. Hartman helped build what would become the first dynasty in the NBA . He later became a staple in Minnesota as a sportswriter and broadcaster. He inducted Bud Grant into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1994. Hartman passed away in 2020.
Tony Jaros (D. 1995) first played at the University of the Minnesota (Gophers) before playing in the National Basketball League (NBL) for the Chiago Stags and later in the Basketball Association of America (BAA), which merged to form the modern NBA. He spent the majority of his professional career with the Minneapolis Lakers, playing as a forward/guard from 1946 to 1951.
During his time with the Lakers, Jaros was a reliable role player, contributing to the team’s dominance during the late 1940s and early 1950s. He was part of the Lakers' championship-winning squads in 1948 (NBL) and 1949 (BAA), helping establish the franchise as one of the early dynasties in professional basketball. Known for his physical style of play and grit, Jaros provided valuable support alongside stars like George Mikan and Jim Pollard.
