Syracuse Prepares for Cotton Bowl - Ernie Davis Heisman Trophy – 1959 Original Photo
| The Syracuse offensive backfield listens to coach Bill Bell as it prepares for the upcoming Cotton Bowl against Texas. Syracuse defeated Texas 23-14 to win the national championship. They were led by bowl MVP Ernie Davis, who ran for one touchdown, caught a Cotton Bowl Classic record 87-yard touchdown, and intercepted a pass leading to a third touchdown.
Along with coach Bell, pictured are Gerry Skonieczki, Ernie Davis, Art Baker, Ger Schwedes, and Dave Serrete.
This original UPI photo (9 x 7 inches) is in excellent condition and offers superb clarity. The reverse has a UPI stamp and a reference stamp dated Dec 30, 1959. Great pic of the Express and teammates!!
