Offered are 10 letters written by DECEASED Baseball Hall of Famers with outstanding baseball content. All are signed and most measure 3x5 to 4x6. Included in this potentially great breakup lot are the following:

James “Cool Papa” Bell writes out many of the teams he played for and that he pitched for 2 years and played in the outfield for 27.

Waite Hoyt answers the question of “Did you ever talk to the Babe after the ’32 series ab out his “called shot?”  Hoyt responds, “No, players never asked him, they just accepted the fact.”

Carl Hubbell answers the question, “Who nicknamed you ‘The Meal Ticket’?  He responds, “A New York Writer, I don’t recall his name in 1933.”

Monte Irvin answers the question “Who helped you the most in your early days in the Negro Leagues” He responds that Dick Lundy – great short stop of a bygone era

Buck Leonard answers the question about Oscar Charleston. Leonard responds, “He was one of the greatest baseball players of all time.”

Freddy Lindstrom is asked about Roberto Clemente and Lindstrom writes back, “I didn’t know Clemente personally so you know as much about him as I do. His record was excellent.”

Joe McCarthy responds to being asked for tips on becoming a coach or manager. McCarthy writes, “You must first learn to play baseball.”

Edd Roush responds to playing with a right handed glove, but played left handed in the Majors. He writes about learning to throw right handed even though he was left handed.

Joe Sewell responds to the question of who the toughest pitcher to hit was during his career. He writes, “The toughest pitcher for me was “Dutch” Leonard with the Red Sox and Detroit. He was a left handed spitball pitcher with a good fast and curve ball and was mean with it. I hated to see him warm up. I wasn’t comfortable at the plate at all.”

Lloyd Waner answers the question of who helped him break into baseball. He writes, “My brother Paul helped me the most. He was the best.”
