We offer this official 1934 football program featuring the Providence Rhode Island Hull’s Brewers Steam Rollers vs. Fort HG Wright of Fishers Island, New York. This extremely rare 2 page program is in fantastic shape for its age. There is a center crease going down the middle which is common for programs of the time as most fans if they even bothered to keep the program would fold them up and put them in their back pocket The Providence Steam Rollers were one of the NFL’s original franchises. They folded in 1931. The Steam Roller name was revived by Pearce Johnson, one of the original team's founders. The subsequent Steamrollers played on a near-continuous basis since that point as a semi-pro, minor league, and independent team until 1942, when it moved to Springfield and became the Springfield Steamroller for 1943, and suspended operations shortly thereafter. The last three seasons of a "Providence Steam Roller" team were as a member of the Atlantic Coast Football League. This team featured many players on the team who had played in the early NFL or were part of the previous Steam Rollers team – including: Jack Spellman of Brown (original Steam Rollers and Boston Braves), Joe Schein of Brown (original Steam Rollers), Eggs Manske (Northwestern) who would go on to play for the Eagles and Bears, Pop Williams (Connecticut who played on the original Steam Rollers & Brookyn Dodgers). This program is much rarer than an NFL Steam Rollers program. Wow!!!!
