Before the Auction

Create an account on the Albersheim’s LLC web site here. You must have an approved account to bid in auctions. If you have previously registered on Albersheim’s LLC, then please use your previously established login and password to login for the current auction. You only need to register once to bid on all future auctions.

At our sole discretion, Albersheim’s LLC retains the right to revoke any account and any bids previously placed by that account. If you have any problems registering, please contact us. All registration and bidder information shall remain confidential.

Finding Items
Familiarize yourself with the web site. Go to the homepage where you will find links on the left hand side of the page to guide you in finding the categories of interest to you. You can also search by lot# and keywords in the titles and descriptions using the search box in the top left corner.

During the Auction

The initial bidding period ending time for the current auction is listed at the top of the Auction page.  Please see the section below regarding extended bidding.  If you’re outbid, you’ll receive an email notification (please check your account settings to ensure that they’re set to send outbid notification emails). Placing a bid is a legal contract. Once a bid is placed, you can't retract it. We reserve the right to reject bids by any bidder.

In order to bid, open the full lot description of the lot you wish to bid on. Click on the BIDDING button or scroll to the bottom of the page to enter your straight or max bid (see explanations of the bid terms below). Not ready to place your bid? Click on the WATCH THIS LOT button to add the lot to your watch list.

The Auctioneer, its affiliates, and their employees/contractors may consign items to be sold in the Auction and may bid on those lots or any other lots.  Auctioneer or affiliates expressly reserve the right to modify any such bids at any time prior to the hammer based upon data made known to the Auctioneer or its affiliates.  The Auctioneer may extend loans, advances, or guaranteed reserves to certain consignors.

Placing a bid is acceptance of these terms.  Our business, our integrity, and our auction process is of the utmost importance to us!  We appreciate your cooperation, participation and your guarantee to follow our auction rules as set forth for all bidders and consignors. We wish you much luck and the highest level of enjoyment and success throughout the auction process. The collector has always been and will always be the driving force of the collectibles marketplace, and for that we thank you in advance for your participation!

Extended Bidding
We use "Extended Bidding" which means that if any lot receives a bid during the regular bidding time, the entire auction will use the "15 Minute Rule" after 7pm Pacific.  For each new bid, a 15 minute clock starts to count down for the ENTIRE auction.  Each new bid restarts the 15 minute clock.  Once the ENTIRE auction has gone 15 minutes without a bid, the auction will close.  However, Albersheim's reserves the right to close the auction at any time after 7:15 PM Pacific and there will be no warning as to exactly when the auction will close. You may bid on any lot during extended bidding, regardless if you bid on that lot before or not.

We don't recommend sniping just before 7pm because there's a bid confirmation screen and there's always the possibility of internet connection issues, etc.  There's no reason to wait until the last minute to bid since the auction will almost certainly be extended at least 15mins, making sniping ineffective.  But remember, you must bid bfore 7pm to be eligible for Extended Bidding.

Extended Bidding makes for an exciting auction experience that can last for hours beyond the initial bidding period.  If you don't wish to watch the auction during the extended bidding time, it's highly recommended that you place a Max bid on your lots of interest so that you don't miss out!

If you requested a call back, we'll do our best to call you however we can't guarantee that we'll be able to contact before the close of the auction.  If you can't watch the auction, we highly recommend that you place a max bid.

Minimum Bids, Reserves, and Bidding Increments
The minimum bid is the least amount that we will accept for a lot. A reserve price is the confidential minimum, below which the consignor will not sell the property. Therefore, if the reserve price is not met, the lot will not be sold.  Bids up to the reserve may be executed by the house on behalf of the seller up to when the next bid in succession would hit the reserve. The overwhelming majority of lots do not have a reserve.

Reserve lots are not indicated as having a reserve until the final 72 hours of the auction.  During the final 72 hours of the auction, any lot with a reserve that has not been met will state 'reserve not met' until such time when the reserve is met.

The current high bid will be shown for each lot.  To bid, go to the individual lot page where you can view a pull-down menu of incremental bid amounts. You will have the option of selecting the next incremental bid (the lowest amount that the pull-down menu displays) or any bid higher than the next incremental bid.  All bids placed are maximum bids (maximum bids are explained below).

Bid increments are set at 10% increases for all lots.

Maximum Bids (also known as "Up To" and "limit" bids)
A Maximum Bid is the highest price that a bidder is willing to spend for a lot. When placing such a bid, you are instructing the auction program to competitively bid on your behalf up to (but not over) a given limit with the intention of winning the item at the lowest possible price. In the event that two or more bidders place the same Maximum Bid, then the earliest received bid will be recognized as the successful high bid.

Example: A lot is bid at $100 by Bidder A who has entered a max bid of $130. Bidder B attempts to top the current high bid of $100 with a bid of $110. This will cause Bidder A’s max bid to automatically move up to $121 (a 10% increment increase over $110). Bidder B will be informed that they are not the high bidder at $120, and that the next bidding increment is $133 (a 10% increment increase over $121).  If Bidder B enters a bid of $133, then Bidder B is now the high bidder at $133 which is over Bidder A’s max bid of $130.

Bidding Errors
Albersheim’s LLC IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ERRORS IN BIDDING. A Bidder MUST make certain to bid on the correct lot and that the bid is the maximum (plus the Buyer’s Premium, shipping, and insurance fees) that the Bidder is willing and able to pay. Since other Bidders will be present and a re-offering could damage the momentum of the sale, the winning Bidder is unconditionally bound to pay for the lot, even if the Bidder has made a mistake.

Bid Notifications via Email
You will receive bid confirmations and outbid notifications via e-mail on every item for which you are bidding.  Some email programs will identify these e-mails as spam and will delete them or delay delivery. As this is out of our control, we strongly recommend users track their bids as we cannot guarantee timely delivery of the notification e-mails.

Monitor Your Items
To monitor your bids, click on the “My Account/Login" link which is on the top menu of every page on the web site.

Buyer's Premium
There’s a 18% Buyer's Premium for all lots. For example, should you win a lot for $1000, your actual cost will be $1180 (plus shipping, insurance, and tax, if applicable). The Bidder acknowledges and agrees that a 18% Buyer’s Premium will be added to the final price on all individual lots.

Description Errors
Albersheim’s LLC reserves the right to remove an item from our auction at any time. Errors in any listing or lot description, whether typographical, photographic. or technical will be dealt with at our discretion. The website may be updated during the auction to provide additional images or product information.

Autograph Authenticity of Items in Albersheim's Auctions
Every single autographed item that appears in an Albersheim’s LLC Auction (including group lots), is first extensively reviewed by industry autograph expert Richard Albersheim of Albersheim’s LLC.

Regardless of any letters of authenticity that may already accompany an autographed item in an auction,
all items are first reviewed by Richard Albersheim for authentication.

In reviewing each signature for authentication, Albersheim’s LLC uses a multi-level authentication process to provide peace of mind to our clients.  It includes but is not limited to:

      A.      Autograph Analysis
B.      Ink/Medium Scrutiny
C.      Object Evaluation
D.      Exemplar Comparisons
E.       Item Provenance
F.       Additional Consultation with Autograph Experts

Following the above authentication process, an autograph is deemed as genuine or not genuine:

-If Albersheim’s LLC does not approve the autograph as genuine (regardless of any third party Letters of Authenticity that may already accompany the item), such item IS NOT INCLUDED in any auction.

-If Albersheim’s LLC approves the autograph as genuine, that item will be included in auctions and will be accompanied by an Albersheim’s LLC Letter of Authenticity.

“I do my best to scrutinize each and every piece of autographed memorabilia that Albersheim’s LLC sells.  If I wouldn’t personally own the item as part of my collection, I won’t sell it.”   -Rich Albersheim

Any additional third party LOA that comes with an autographed item in an Albersheim’s LLC auction will be listed in the item description.

Should you need further authentication of an autographed item (prior to bidding), Albersheim’s LLC encourages interested bidders/clients to utilize the photographs available in the catalogue (web site or printed) and or consult with autograph experts of your choice before bidding.

Albersheims 60-Day Return Policy on Autograph Items Only:
Albersheim’s LLC offers a 60-day return policy for authenticity disputes of each item offered at auction. To make an authenticity claim under this policy, the original purchaser of record must abide by the following guidelines:

A.    The refund policy applies solely to the original purchaser of record from the auction or online store and may not be transferred to any third party.

B.      Albersheim’s LLC must be notified within sixty days of the close of the auction or store purchase for an authenticity dispute.

C.      The buyer must provide a written letter of rejection by an independent and recognized expert in the field.  Approved authentication experts include: PSA/DNA, JSA, Kevin Keating, Richard Simon, and Jim Stinson.  (Please note that any third party authentication fees associated with a rejection letter will not be a part of the refund amount and are the sole responsibility of the original purchaser of the item).  A  rendering  of non-opinion or an "unable to render an opinion" made by a 3rd party authenticator will not qualify as a verifiable opinion one way or another.

D.      The lot must be returned to Albersheim’s LLC in the same condition as it was on the auction end date.

E.       Albersheim’s LLC reserves the right to consult with respected third party authenticators to settle a dispute.

F.       Albersheim’s LLC and its agents will be the sole determinants of the authenticity of each and every piece sold. We are not bound by the opinion of grading services, third-party authenticators, or experts.

G.   The guarantree does not exend to the description of the lot condition due to the subjective nature of such evaluations

At Albersheim’s LLC sole discretion, we may or may not extend a refund, if necessary. Refunds will be issued for the original bid price and buyer’s premium associated only.  NO REFUNDS will be made for shipping charges.

Trading Card Authentication
PLEASE NOTE: All description references to PSA Population Reports, PSA SMR values, and PSA or SGC Set Registry rankings are accurate at the time the catalogue description is composed, and bidders are advised that this information is subject to change at any time.

Grading, condition, authenticity, and warranty of lots: There is a subjectivity to grading - especially the grading of cards. Every effort is made to verify the condition of each lot as described. We do not accept material for auction without careful scrutiny by not only ourselves, but, when necessary, by other leading authenticators. We cannot guarantee that every card described by us will receive exactly the same grade, or even be accepted for grading, by third party grading services.  Similarly, we cannot guarantee that every card graded by one third party grading service will in all cases receive exactly the same grade by another third party grading service. No warranty, whether expressed or implied, is made with respect to any grade, condition, or description, which can and do vary, even among experts.

Albersheim's 60-Day Return Policy - Game Used - Game Worn - Equipment
All items deemed as “game used” or “game worn” are extensively researched.  When a piece is not directly sourced from the player or player’s family, we do our due diligence to try and determine wear and/or usage of an item that would represent usage attributed to the particular athlete.  We do our best to research and find photo matches to the particular item or style.

All items that fall under this category will come with a Letter of Authenticity from Albersheim’s LLC.  If there’s a player letter or a letter of provenance, this will be included with the lot along with any documentation from 3rd party authenticators. This will be mentioned in our printed catalogue or online catalogue.

Our policy for game used/worn equipment is the same standard policy as our autograph authenticity policy.

Approved authenticators include: MEARS (jerseys), John Taube (bats), and Dennis Eskin (gloves).
