1922 Chicago White Sox Season Pass Ticket Base Ruth 4 Home Runs

Just 3 years after the Black Sox World Series Scandal in 1919, the White Sox  finished 17 games behind the mighty New York Yankees.   Attractive and colorful season pass to Comiskey Park, home to the 1922 Chicago White Sox.  The team that year finished at .500, and included future Hall of Famers Harry Hooper, Eddie Collins and Red Faber.  Produced by the Whitehead and Hoag Company, the celluloid pass is clean and crisp, with little evident wear, a clean and attractive pass. The pass is made out to Gus (Gustaf) Axelson & wife.  Axelson was considered Comiskey’s guy.  Gus wrote for the Record-Herald, who was also Comiskey’s biographer and probably the man who wrote the most flattering picture of the 1919 White Sox when many of the sportswriters of the day roasted Comiskey.

This pass entitled Axelson to see the Yankees play in 12 games (one date being a double header).  Including Babe Ruth’s Home Run on June 8, 1922 in a 7-2 Yankees victory over the White Sox.  Another Home Run game on June 9, 1922 for a 10-6 Sox victory.  On July 29, 1922 the Yankees would beat the White Sox 6-2 with Babe Ruth socking a HR. On September 14, 1922 Babe Ruth would hit his 32nd HR of the season in a 4-1 Yankee victory in front of 10,000 fans at Comiskey Stadium.  He would hit 3 more the rest of the regular season.  Another great feat that season that occurred at the stadium was Charlie Robertson’s perfect Game on April 30th.

Many historic games played at Comiskey Park in 1922.  Gorgeous historic piece! If you owned this pass, you could have witnessed four Home Runs by the Bambino himself!!!!
