1982-83 Michael Jordan UNC vs Thurl Bailey NC State Original ESPN Press Photo

This super rare 8x10 inch press photo was published by ESPN during their 1982-83 NCAA season promoting at least a Dozen Games that UNC would appear in on the network (as the Tarheels were defending National Champions). We believe this taken during the January 13, 1982 game at NC State in which the Tarheels won 61-41. This photo is similar to a UPI photo (see newspaper article) taken during the game. Note - They played each 3 times during the 1981-82 season (January 30 & March 6, 1982 games, UNC wore white)
One, must remember that the company was founded in 1979 and were still a fledgling network in the early 80’s; often showing strong man competitions, arm wrestling tournaments, etc.
When we spoke with Henry Yee about this photograph (Head authenticator and grader at PSA for photography); he said he’d only seen one other copy of this photo ever.
