Joe Atkins Negro League signed 1948-49 Puerto Rico Baseball Contract

Joe Atkins (D. 1970 at age 48) played in the Negro Leagues for the Pittsburgh Crawfords and Cleveland Buckeyes. Although his career in the Negro Leagues lasted only a few years, he moved onto play minor league baseball getting as high as AAA baseball for the Philadelphia Athletics. He hit 10 HR’s for the 1947 Negro American League pennant winners, Cleveland Buckeyes.

We offer his 1948-49 Puerto Rican Winter League baseball contract for Pearson to play for the Mayaguez (Indians) Baseball Club. The contract has been signed by the club President, club VP, Joesph Atkins, and stamped by the league president.
