Joe Foss “Autograph” Official Spalding AFL Trophy Football circa 1960-66

The American Football League was the rival Major League professional football league that rivaled the NFL from 1960 until their merger in 1969.  World War II hero and former Montana state Governor, Joe Foss would become the very first commissioner of the AFL.  He would hold this position from 1960-66.

Offered is a Very scarce. American Football League football that was ordered by AFL teams to be used for autograph purposes.  It is the ¾ white and one ¼ leather official AFL football with Joe Foss as commissioner. Three panels on the ball are white, to facilitate autographs.  99% of these balls that still exist have some autograph or writing on the ball.  This ball is a RARE survivor with no autographs.  This Spalding model was put out to replicate the J5V.

This ball holds most of its air and derives from the collection of former AFL star, Freddy Glick.  Glick played for the Houston Oilers from 1961-66, so this ball would date from that time period.
